A $50 Million Lawsuit Shakes the Presley Legacy
A stunning $50 million lawsuit has ignited controversy around Priscilla Presley, the former wife of Elvis Presley, alleging years of financial deception, broken business promises, and deeply troubling claims surrounding the final moments of her daughter, Lisa Marie Presley. Filed in California state court by former business partners Bridget Cruz and Kevin Fialo, the complaint paints a dramatic picture of power struggles, money disputes, and fractured family trust within one of America’s most famous dynasties.
According to the lawsuit, Cruz and Fialo—both involved in managing and monetizing celebrity intellectual property—were brought in to help stabilize Priscilla Presley’s finances and expand the value of her name, image, and likeness. They claim Priscilla represented that she still controlled those rights, encouraging them to invest significant time, resources, and personal funds into building her brand. However, the plaintiffs allege they later discovered that Priscilla had already sold many of those rights years earlier to a major licensing company, a fact they say was deliberately concealed.
The complaint goes far beyond a standard business dispute. It outlines a long history of tension between Priscilla and her daughter Lisa Marie, rooted in control of the Elvis estate and related trusts. The plaintiffs allege that after Elvis Presley’s death, Priscilla maneuvered her way into managing aspects of the estate, later remaining financially dependent on Lisa Marie even after the inheritance passed fully to her daughter.
One of the most explosive accusations centers on Lisa Marie Presley’s death in January 2023. The lawsuit claims that Lisa Marie had executed a medical directive requesting that her life be prolonged under critical circumstances. Despite this, the plaintiffs allege that Priscilla made the decision to withdraw life support shortly after Lisa Marie was hospitalized, before other family members could arrive. They further claim Priscilla immediately sought to control the public narrative by issuing a statement announcing her daughter’s death.
Following Lisa Marie’s passing, the lawsuit alleges Priscilla attempted to regain control over trusts and assets, including Graceland, while also cutting ties with Cruz and Fialo. The plaintiffs say they were pushed out after having invested hundreds of thousands of dollars and securing new opportunities for Priscilla, including film-related compensation and media appearances.
In total, the lawsuit includes numerous claims such as fraud, breach of contract, misappropriation of name and likeness rights, and intentional interference with business relationships. Cruz and Fialo argue they suffered massive financial losses as a result and are seeking both compensatory and punitive damages.
While all allegations remain unproven, the case threatens to expose private family conflicts, financial dealings, and behind-the-scenes decisions that could permanently alter public perceptions of the Presley legacy. As the legal battle unfolds, it stands as one of the most dramatic and consequential disputes tied to Elvis Presley’s empire in decades.
